Take Along Thomas - James July 4, 2010 Lisa Gordon 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son plays with his Thomas toys all the time so this was another addition to an ever expanding set of Thomas toys. I think one of the main attractions for him with the Thomas trains is the magnetic couplings which means he can swap tenders and engines and decide which order they should go in. These trains are particularly hardwearing and durable so perfect for little boys.

I bought this for my 2 year old son and he loves it. It's quite heavy so it's durable (proved by the fact that my son drives it off the top of the table). I love the way the magnets attach, it doesn't matter what way round they are, so he doesn't get frustrated! I have now ordered Percy. 100 percent satisfied

Bought this for my great nephew as one of his Christmas presents and he absolutely loves it. He loves Thomas and loves trains so this was ideal for him. He hasn't stopped playing with it since Christmas Day. Well worth the money.

We took our son to the Chicago Botanical Gardens, and they had a James in the model train garden. We hadn't even watched the show at that point, but I bought him a Take Along James as a souveneir.
I liked the Take Along size, and my son fell in love with Thomas & Friends (especially after watching Thomas and Friends: James and the Red Balloon [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC])...eventually we collected almost all of them.
We've had this James for a couple of years, and recently one of the magnets reversed itself, so the coal car repels itself, instead of "sticking," as my son puts it...I have no idea how it happened.
My son keeps all of his Take Alongs in two Take Along Thomas & Friends Travel Carry Case. Unlike the wooden sets, we've never had to worry about recalls for lead.
