We recently moved to an area of the country that has extremely hard water. I've been using the Brita water filter system here for a year now, and it absolutely does work. There is no trace of hard water deposits in our heavily used kettle, and the water tastes great. If you read and follow the instructions it does not leave little black bits in the water. I use the filter for a good six weeks (rather than the four weeks it calls for) before replacing it, and have still not seen any lime scale. I do a lot of comparison shopping, and Amazon is the cheapest place I have seen to buy them, as well. It is worth it.

I use mine in a hybrid jug-kettle, so they are catering for all my water-needs. I have been using them for two or three years and am past the honeymoon phase. They work.
Tea is cleaner looking and tasting. My Espresso machine has cut its descaling needs, and the insides of my jug-kettle are nearly as new.
After experimenting with differences between advertised and actual effective lifespan of cartridges, I conclude I can use them for twice as long before they show first signs of lessened effectiveness.
The environment of use is relevant here, so I will share it: 1/4 litre cold per day to fill espresso reservoir, 1/2 litre per day boiled at various times to make mugs of tea, and 2-litres per week brought to boiling and poured on pasta to be cooked.

As these items are manufacturer made there is no difference in the product quality if bought elsewhere therefore it comes down to price and this gives a very good unit price for the filters.

i use the Brita Filter jug regually and love the taste of the filtered water and its alot better for you as it gets rid of the impuritys in the water

Ticks all the boxes - good value for money and Brita is definately the water filter king.
